Seminar Topics
Food, Fuel & The Farm - Add $10,000,000 in industry using what
we already have! This mini-seminar discusses the real economic opportunities and threats facing our national
food production system and the economic value of local foods. When diesel is $6.00
a gallon, where will our food come from, how much will it cost? What jobs will be lost in our community that need to
be replaced? This seminar is geared toward businesses, economic development groups and communities who want to
learn how to add industry and regenerated dollars to a community without courting new employers to come from other places.
The typical mini-seminar is approximately 30 minutes plus a question & answer period. Contact Melissa Boutwell at
mboutwell@boutwellfarms.com to schedule a min-seminar for your organization. In depth "how to" strategic planning sessions are available
on request and can be geared toward your specific community.
A Wise House: Preparing For Tomorrow Using
What We Have Today. Built on the ancient Proverb that reminds us that "the house of the wise
is filled with choice foods and oil but a fool consumes all that he has". This mini-seminar seeks to revive the
lost philosophy of storing the most important things at home and learning how to hold "food inventory". Americans
have been retrained by the national food system to rely on just-in-time inventory to feed their families. This
is not a wise choice to rely on for the future. For centuries, families have understood both the wisdom and the methods
required to store food at home and meet the needs of the family across the seasons. Much of that wisdom has
been lost. The logistics behind our national food distribution system are in jeopordy and our families needs to
be prepared. The result of this seminar will be that you will understand what you need to store, why you need to
store it, and simple was to get started. Contact Melissa Boutwell at mboutwell@boutwellfarms.com to schedule this mini-seminar.
The seminars below are rescheduled for 2009 due to the volume
of the above bookings.
Delight In the Harvest: Buy what you should eat. Cook and eat what you
buy. Should I buy organic, grass-fed, natural, fat-free, low carb, high omega 3, .....? The list
is endless. Navigate marketing and misinformation by using common sense found in nature to make healthy food
choices. This seminar simplifies the key factors in planning food for yourself and a family. Individuals
can take control of their food choices and determine food quality for themselves. Participants are left
with 10 specific things they can do to improve the nutritional quality of the foods they eat without spending a fortune on
fancy labels and packaging. This seminar is approximately 2 hours in length broken into 30 minute segments. A
30 minute mini-seminar is available with a question & answer. Contact Melissa Boutwell at mboutwell@boutwellfarms.com to schedule a seminar or mini-seminar (20-30 minutes) for your organization.
Created: Living our belief
that God created the heavens and the earth as we cultivate and keep it. Take a break
from religion to explore the creation and what we all share. The lessons found in nature are a strong tutor.
Throughout human history, man has recorded these observations and gained a good understanding of life within the soil, air,
grass, and animals. Today, few of us really get close enough to this system to understand its lessons. The
story of Genesis begins with God asking the newly created man to cultivate and keep the earth. How are we
doing? The idea of "keeping" has been lost. Often, we treat these things today as if they are fully disposable.
This seminar begins with the basic question: "What would it look like to believe that God created the heavens
and the earth?" Completely filling in that picture is an individual matter. This seminar is designed
to stimulate you to begin answering that question for yourself by taking a fresh look at common things around you. Contact
